The thesis presents a technical report regarding the sound production process of film Spin-off. Besides the strict technical descriptions associated with the production process, the specific narrative characteristics of the film invited and inspired to explore the existential duality between the two characters and its sonic transposition to a sound design based academic project. In respect to this perspective, the duality between reality and fiction demanded careful eparation and coherent artistic criteria throughout all production stages from the pre-production to the final mixing process. This work does not wish to discuss or explore, at a philosophical level, all the concepts associated with the notion of realism and fiction. The approach to this problem is built on some semiotic premises and empirical arguments. In itself, this project defies itself as an aesthetic challenge to solve, at both technical and creative levels, the opposition between reality, and the sound strategies needed to meet the visual narratives aesthetic demands, with the development of sound design approaches that reflect Marko’s human, but artificial or fictional nature.
Each film project proposes its own specific challenges. “Spinoff”, due to the nature of its script demanded deep preparation in the pre-production stage, and full commitment from the editing to the mixing stage.
