Abstract

There is a growing list of composers, who are making the line between music and sound design thinner and thinner. The music tradition, that comes from a pitch-oriented score has been replaced by a sound-oriented world. The sound is not just a carrier of pitch anymore, it has its own character and personality and its being used to represent a location, a character or a mood. In this paper I will analyse the music and sound design of the film “The Revenant” (2015) by Alejandro González Iñárritu in order to find out more about the techniques and methods, that were used to create the immersive sound experience of “The Revenant”.
