Abstract

The initial purpose of this document is to identify the general conventions and aesthetics of the Gothic genre to reinterpret them in a culture such as Latin America, the region where the Tropical Gothic subgenre was born in the 80s. However, the real purpose of the reflections made here is to be able to apply them to an original script.

The Gothic genre is so wide and diverse that it is necessary to limit the field of study. This delimitation will be established by the themes of the script which are: 1) The themes, 2) The archetypical roles in the genre and 3) the setting.
