Abstract

By defining the uses and the role of space in cinema, location assumes a central part in defining the overall narrative and dramatic value of the film. Locations have a key role at other levels, namely the economic one. The present work intends to discuss the production strategy and options followed in the production of the short film Tomorrow Island.

Our work will discuss the role location management plays at different levels in order to depict the functions locations have in contemporary film production. Complementarily, we will discuss how location management can be used by low budget independent film productions both from a dramatic and economic point of view.
